SPV Operations Associate
A dynamic, mid-market European private equity firm with offices across major financial hubs (and new locations planned for 2026) is setting up a European hub in Lisbon, enabling a greater balance of insourced operations and supporting the continued growth of the firm. Over time, the Lisbon hub is expected to centralise many finance and operations functions, offering excellent opportunities for career development and cross-border collaboration.
About the Role
The internal Finance Operations team is seeking an Associate to join the Lisbon office, working within the SPV Operations function. This role will support the day-to-day management of Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs), ensuring effective corporate administration, strong governance, and operational excellence across the SPV lifecycle. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with Finance, Legal, Tax, Compliance, Investment teams, and external service providers, contributing to the continued development of European operations hub.
Functions:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of SPVs, ensuring accurate and timely corporate administration, including documentation, governance updates, statutory filings, and stakeholder coordination.
- Support transaction execution and SPV lifecycle management, including the onboarding of new entities, ownership transitions, and maintaining complete and accurate corporate records.
- Ensure data integrity by maintaining robust controls, trackers, and audit trails while proactively identifying and resolving operational issues.
- Contribute to operational excellence by standardising processes, maintaining documentation, improving workflows, and supporting automation and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, governance standards, and regulatory requirements, while supporting internal and external reporting related to SPV activities.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders across Finance, Legal, Tax, Compliance, and Investment teams, as well as external corporate service providers, providing timely updates on deliverables, risks, and project milestones.
Skills required:
- Education: Degree in Management, Finance, Accounting, Law, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: Approximately 2–4 years of relevant experience in Private Equity, SPV Operations, Corporate Services, Fund Administration, or a professional services environment supporting fund structures.
- Technical Knowledge: Experience with SPV administration, corporate governance processes, statutory record management, and entity lifecycle activities across UK and/or European jurisdictions.
- Systems Skills: Strong attention to data quality and experience working with operational systems, trackers, and document management tools. Comfortable adopting new technologies and process improvements.
- Analytical Skills: Process-oriented mindset with the ability to identify operational risks, improve controls, and contribute to scalable operating models.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively across multiple stakeholders and provide clear operational updates.
- Organisational Skills: Highly organised, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Note: The role is likely to involve occasional travel to London and Luxembourg.
