Senior Java Developer

Our client is a leading European energy company driving innovation through digital solutions that support energy transition. They have established a Tech Hub in Lisbon to develop cutting-edge platforms for e-mobility and smart infrastructure, working in an agile, international environment.

They are looking for a Senior Java Developer with strong experience in backend development and cloud technologies to join their growing team in Lisbon. You will design and operate scalable systems for electric mobility, contributing to architectural improvements and driving product innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Backend Development (Java/Spring Boot): Build and maintain backend services for e-mobility platforms, ensuring scalability, security, and high performance.
• Cloud-Native Development: Design and implement solutions on Microsoft Azure using Infrastructure-as-Code principles.
• Architecture & Design: Apply Domain-Driven Design principles and contribute to key architectural decisions.
• Agile Collaboration: Work within a DevOps team, taking ownership of responsibilities while fostering team collaboration and knowledge sharing.
• Continuous Improvement: Deliver new requirements, implement architectural enhancements, and perform refactoring while ensuring smooth and reliable operations.
• Best Practices & Standardisation: Drive cloud adoption across teams, standardise CI/CD pipelines, and ensure consistent architecture, security, and compliance.

What You Bring

• Education & Experience: Degree in Computer Science or equivalent, with 5+ years in enterprise software development Java (17+) and Spring Boot.
• Cloud & Infrastructure: Strong expertise in configuring and operating cloud services (Azure preferred; also AWS/GCP) and Infrastructure-as-Code.
• Software Development Practices: Deep knowledge of Clean Code, Test-Driven Development, REST APIs, and event-driven architecture.
• Software Architecture: Strong interest in software architecture; familiar with Domain-Driven Design, Hexagonal, and Clean Architecture.
• Development Tools: Proficient with Spring ecosystem, NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis), Maven, Gradle, Git, and GitHub Copilot.
• Communication Skills: Excellent English; Portuguese or German is a plus
