Cloud Platform Engineer

Our client is a Silicon Valley company specialising in Vertical AI SaaS solutions, collaborating with top firms worldwide in industries such as accounting, consulting, investment banking, legal, private capital, and real assets.

They’re looking for a Cloud Platform Engineer specialising in Distributed Architecture to join the infrastructure team. In this role, you’ll own and optimise the data and compute systems that power large-scale, high-performance analytics. You’ll work across ClickHouse, Kafka, OpenSearch, and Kubernetes, ensuring systems run smoothly, securely, and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

• ClickHouse Cluster Management: Design schemas, tune queries, set up replication, and plan capacity to optimise production clusters.
• Distributed Systems Operations: Operate and maintain Kafka, OpenSearch, and other distributed systems to ensure scalability, performance, and reliability.
• Kubernetes Workload Management: Deploy, configure, and manage containerised and stateful workloads following best practices for security and efficiency.
• GitOps Automation: Implement and maintain GitOps workflows to streamline infrastructure and application deployments through automation and version control.
• Monitoring and Alerting Systems: Design and operate monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions for proactive issue detection and rapid resolution.
• Performance Optimisation: Analyse and optimise distributed systems to improve resilience and meet SLA targets.
• Technical Documentation: Develop and maintain documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures, collaborating closely with engineering teams to ensure smooth, reliable operations.

What You Bring:

• Distributed Systems Management: Proven experience managing distributed systems in production with a deep understanding of distributed computing, consistency, and fault tolerance
• ClickHouse Expertise: Skilled in cluster operations, data modeling, MergeTree engines, query optimisation, and replication strategies.
• Kubernetes Operations: Hands-on experience managing StatefulSets, persistent volumes, networking, and security configurations.
• Apache Kafka: Practical experience with Kafka.
• Analytics and Search Platforms: Working knowledge of analytics and search platforms, with a preference for OpenSearch.
