Group Finance Operations Director
A leading global organisation is seeking a Group Finance Operations Director to join their team in Lisbon. As Group Finance Operations Director, you will play a pivotal role in driving operational excellence, championing process transformation, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement across finance operations. - What you'll do:
Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve guiding a diverse team through complex billing cycles, accounts receivable management, accounts payable oversight, payment execution, reconciliations, and employee expenses. You will be instrumental in transforming traditional workflows into efficient automated systems by implementing strategic initiatives that modernise finance operations.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance operations team responsible for Billing, Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), Payments, Reconciliations, and Employee Expenses.
- Champion strategic initiatives aimed at modernising and automating finance operational workflows by transitioning from manual processes to scalable automated solutions.
- Review, update, document, and enforce comprehensive operational policies and standard operating procedures across all functional areas to maintain robust internal controls and compliance.
- Ensure accurate and timely third-party and intercompany invoicing while efficiently managing the AR ledger, collections processes, and communications with merchants.
- Oversee the entire Procure-to-Pay cycle including vendor management, invoice processing, payment execution, corporate credit card administration, and employee expense reporting in line with travel policies.
- Direct daily cash application processes ensuring timely reconciliation of all bank accounts, payment processors, and sub-ledgers to the general ledger.
- Utilise system data and reporting tools to track key operational metrics (KPIs) and drive continuous improvement across finance operations.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to optimise workflows and support business objectives through effective financial operations management.
- Leverage technology such as NetSuite ERP alongside other finance tools (Concur, Omnea, Zone Capture) to enhance reporting capabilities and streamline processes.
- Foster a culture of accountability within the team by promoting best practices in financial operations and supporting ongoing professional development.
What you bring:
- Minimum of eight years’ progressive experience in finance or accounting roles with at least three years in senior management or director-level positions leading multiple operational teams.
- Demonstrable hands-on expertise with NetSuite ERP system is mandatory including advanced reporting skills; experience implementing or optimising NetSuite modules is highly desirable.
- Proven ability to manage, motivate, scale operational teams while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement within finance operations.
- Strong analytical skills combined with deep understanding of IFRS accounting principles; adept at defining and tracking financial operational metrics using system data.
- Experience working in high-growth FinTech or technology environments is highly desirable due to the fast-paced nature of the organisation’s expansion.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills enabling effective collaboration across departments as well as clear guidance for direct reports.
- Ability to review policies critically ensuring compliance with company standards while documenting comprehensive procedures for operational consistency.
