Management Accounting

Our client, is seeking an experienced Management Accountant to support the financial operations of an international group with multiple entities. This role involves maintaining accounting records, preparing management accounts, and providing financial analysis to support decision‑making. The position requires strong multi-entity experience, accuracy, and the ability to work in a dynamic, cross‑border environment.

Reports to: Group Finance Manager

Location: Lisbon, Portugal

Regime: 2 days per week at the office.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting for several group companies.
• Prepare and review journals, including accruals, prepayments, and other adjustments.
• Execute month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring complete and accurate financial information.
• Produce management accounts and group reporting packs for review by the Finance Manager.
• Conduct variance analysis and identify key drivers and trends.
• Provide financial commentary and support senior management with analytical insights.
• Assist with external audits, including preparation of schedules and supporting documentation.
• Contribute to consolidation activities and ensure adherence to relevant accounting standards.
• Perform balance sheet, bank, VAT/tax, and intercompany reconciliations.
• Coordinate with local accounting providers in various jurisdictions to validate and maintain accurate local ledgers.

Qualifications & Experience

• Professional accounting qualification preferred (ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or similar).
• 8–10 years’ experience in multi-entity accounting and management reporting.
• Strong understanding of IFRS, multi-currency accounting, and audit processes.
• Proficiency with accounting/ERP systems (e.g., SAGE 50, Xero, or comparable platforms).
• Advanced Excel skills and solid analytical capability.

• Strong communication skills to interact effectively with auditors and internal stakeholders.
• Self-driven, proactive, and comfortable working independently.
• Fluent in English; knowledge of German or Spanish is an advantage.
